How I become the best employee of Q1/2013

June 15th, 2006
The first day working in CIMAS, I was an engineer. Everyone called me that title from now on. Isn’t it dapper? There were some other Equipment newcomers like me. They were all young, enthusiastic, energy and very humorous. Although, it was indeed the first time employed by a company but I didn’t have any feeling of hesitation. Also, I had no concept of “go working” but “go enjoying”.

Signing in the labour contract, I felt myself of brimful emotion and had an invisible relationship with this “2nd Home CIMAS”. I said to myself that I will be here so long time to devote my youth and intelligence to the company. I was afterwards absorbed in designing technical drawings for equipments in factory and plant.

I cannot forget when Project Manager Mai Thanh Tuan came to our Equipment Department and ask me to join to develop Project Management Department as Top management’s expectation. I just had a short morning to pack all of my personal stuffs included PC, document and stationery.
At 2pm, I saw my foots printing on the floor of Project Department, there were only 2 people in front of me, Mr. Tuan and Ms. Huyen. They welcomed me with a very bright smile that I’ve seen ever.

Mr. Tuan carefully guided me everything, “from needle to elephant”, such as doing weekly report, proceeding payment, managing project cost, progress and quality. I was embraced by anxiety. How could I finish all the tasks with only a background knowledge of a technique-minded person?

It has been 1 year since I was a project engineer. Leaving all concerns behind, I try to grasp as much accomplishment as possible to chase the project progress. There were many things I haven’t known yet, especially my soft skills were not strong enough to interact with the owner, client and subcontractor. I no longer just worked solely in designing work as in Equipment Department; in reverse, I had to coordinate with other Engineering Departments to discuss technical issues and co-operate with Indirect Groups in logistics arrangement for the project. Therefore, my communication and teamwork skills became flexible. Meanwhile, I also realize that as an Equipment engineer within 6 years, I have been equipped with a fertile source of technical information and practical experience. With these key advantages, my learning progress has been considerably pushed up. Quickly, I can apply my achieved know-how to management work. The result is some projects I took part in are completed and run successfully, including Meiko WWTP project, Shinetsu Magnetic Materials project and Messer ASU & LIQUEFIER project. Everything seems to be more and more smooth. However, there is still a long way ahead that I should endeavor myself more !
I was assigned more challenging responsibilities: Project Manager of Nhon Trach PVC Sticking Tape Factory project and Formosa Textile Processing Plant – Phase 2 project. I felt glad and excited, not because of being promoted to a higher level. Simplely, I won the trust and appreciation of my colleagues. Also, I could challenge myself more with heavier responsibilities.

“Congratulation!” Many co-workers came to my seat and sent me hundreds of compliment. The title “Best Employee of Quarter I/2013” is over my imagination. My desire when I was only a new staff has come true with the motivation and encouragement of all beloved CIMAS’s workmates. Smile might not stop. I cannot hide my happiness and in fact, I don’t want to. My achievement deserves to be rewarded even though a lot of things I still have to learn in the future.
Project Department is like a captain who navigates the direction of the crew. At the moment, CIMAS are jumping into the first steps of an EPC contractors. And me, I am also pursueing my coming personal development plan with the ambition that someday very near I would become an integral coach of CIMAS EPC-Train.
